Our Goals
  • To feature rare and one-of-kind decorative accessories made of fine "Age of Empire" materials like teakwood and Indian rosewood
  • To provide the best customer service possible
  • To seek simplicity of design, character and irresistible appeal in our collection

Our business is based on decorative accessories with character and simplicity, with many items in our wood collection made of teakwood, Indian rosewood and mango wood.   We have vintage railway signal lanterns vented for candles, hardwood kindling buckets, and accessories such as Indian rosewood wine racks, occasional tables, teakwood blanket boxes and a great variety of vases and containers.   Response was immediately strong and our vintage, one-of-a-kind dough bowls, antique boxes and Himalayan vases were instant hits.    We look forward to hearing from you and will be happy to e-mail pictures of our many unique, one-of-a-kind items.

The picture below is of Empress of India Co. owner Dipak K. (Dee) Roy is at a lodge designed by his brother next to the Corbett National Park, famous for its tigers just below the Himalayas in northern India.   The park's jungle and river beds are home to teakwood trees, tigers, elephants, antelope, silver monkeys and other flora and wildlife.

Our company is named after Queen Victoria.  Our future business will include British empire and other Victorian antiques.

Dee went to high school at Woodstock School, located at 6500 ft. elevation in the Himalayas in the 1960s, when the Beatles and Donovan were in nearby Rishikesh.  Donovan came up to the school one day with an acoustic guitar.  He sang some of his trademark songs for students in the high school.

Many items in The Empress of India Collection, including our dough bowls and hand-painted wood vases are from the Himalayas.

Dee's previous background is in international trade after studying international relations at Johns Hopkins University.   He has an MPA degree from Columbia University in New York, U.S.A.
